Catholic Women in Business released the latest episode of our podcast, Catholic Women Lead, this week. It was a great conversation I had with Dr. Clara Piano, an economist, about entrepreneurship and the feminine genius.
And, speaking of the feminine genius, CWIB is hosting a free virtual panel next week on the feminine genius and business. My co-president, Elise Crawford Gallagher, is the host, and I’ll be on the panel, along with Lisa Canning (of The Possibility Mom), Laura Roland (Catholic coach, writer, and speaker—and a wonderful mentor of Catholic women), and Natasha Lovely (a branding expert who works for a major national corporation).
Register (for free) here: https://catholicwomeninbusiness.com/feminine-genius-panel. We’ll be entering each email address into a drawing for a free three months in the CWIB Membership Community!
In other news, my latest article for Natural Womanhood was published, all about early and premature menopause.
Content I Liked This Week:
This week was Natural Family Planning (NFP) Week—a landmine for bad hot takes. Emily Ricci, a Catholic marketing expert and founder of Gloriam Marketing, shared an article about marketing NFP the right way. It was excellent.
On a related note, it’s baffling to me that in the pornographic culture we’re swimming in, tech companies can’t get it together on what to allow in terms of women’s health content. This Forbes article by Eva Esker (director of marketing at a venture firm that invests in women’s health and women-led life sciences companies) is a good summary.
I read this Esquire article by Madeline Diamond about literary merch and now want to be the person in charge of deciding what goes in PR boxes for my favorite new novels.
I don’t agree with sales consultants Lisa Earle McLeod and Elizabeth Lotardo’s take in this Harvard Business Review article that we should stop using the phrase and concept of servant leadership—but I do agree with them that service needs to be grounded in self-care in order to be effective. They offer some good tips.
Books I’m Enjoying:
I read Energy Rising: The Neuroscience of Leading with Emotional Power, by Dr. Julia DiGangi, which will be released later this year by Harvard Business Review Press. I thought it was good and will be releasing a review soon with Catholic Women in Business.
I’m halfway through The End of the Affair by Graham Greene, which my Well-Read Mom group decided to read while the club was “off” for the summer, and enjoying it so far. I’m interested to know how it ends, knowing the author was Catholic and seeing hints from the beginning of a conversion.
